Copywriting
We originate text, either using source materials you provide or from research and interviews that we carry out. To make sure we stay on course, we first draft an outline. This includes a flat plan or map showing what information will go where. Once you have agreed this, we start writing.
Production management
If you need someone to oversee a communication project, coordinating and ‘traffic managing’ the various contributors, we are happy to take on this role. We will make sure your project completes on time and within budget. And we can give you support if you need to run competitive tendering bids and prepare supplier contracts. We can combine production management with copywriting or subediting services.
Script and speechwriting
Writing for spoken communication is a Marmalade Keyboard speciality. We can provide scripts for events, awards and presentations, and keynote speeches. We first get a full brief from you, including topics, aims and the preferences of your speakers, before preparing a draft for your review. Previous examples of our work include scriptwriting for BBC regional news presenters and speechwriting for senior spokespeople.
Research and interviews
If you are starting a document from scratch and need to gather information, we are happy to carry out the research and interviews you need. We can do this either working alone or as part of a larger team. This is a valuable service when you need to prepare a big series of case studies or documents for your organisation.
Subediting and plain English reviews
This service is ideal when you already have text, but feel it needs a ‘brush-up’ or thorough revision. We discuss with you your objectives, what you feel is working and what isn’t, and then work on your existing copy, shaping it into a clearer and sharper finished product. We can also analyse text and recommend changes to meet plain English standards.
